Telemedicine in Plano, TX: See Dr. Rahman From Anywhere in Texas
Quality primary care doesn't have to mean driving to an office. Dr. Sophia Rahman offers secure virtual consultations for routine care, medication management, chronic disease monitoring, and more — available throughout Texas.
Healthcare has changed. And for many of my patients in Plano and across Texas, that change has been genuinely welcome — because a great deal of what we do in primary care doesn’t require you to be physically in the room.
At Sophia Rahman MD, I offer secure telemedicine consultations that deliver the same quality of care as an in-office visit, for conditions and situations where virtual care is appropriate. You get my full attention. You get real clinical decisions. You just don’t have to sit in traffic to get there.
What Telemedicine Is Actually Good For
Not everything can be handled virtually — I won’t pretend otherwise. A physical exam, an in-office EKG, or a blood draw requires you to be here. But a substantial portion of primary care works extremely well through video:
Routine and preventive care
- Annual wellness visits and health reviews
- Reviewing lab results and adjusting treatment plans
- Preventive health counseling and screenings discussion
Chronic disease management
- Diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, COPD, and other ongoing conditions
- Medication adjustments based on home monitoring data or recent labs
- Reviewing Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) data between in-office visits
Acute care for non-emergencies
- Upper respiratory symptoms (cold, sinus infection, mild flu-like illness)
- Urinary tract infection symptoms
- Skin rashes or changes (with good photos)
- Allergies and medication reactions
- Insomnia, anxiety, or mood concerns
Medication management
- Refills and medication reviews
- Starting or adjusting chronic disease medications
- Managing side effects
Follow-up appointments
- Post-hospitalization follow-ups that don’t require in-person exam
- Reviewing results from specialist visits
- Checking in on symptom progression
How a Telemedicine Visit Works
1. Schedule Your Appointment
Book online through our Setmore scheduling system or call the office at (972) 782-2811. Let us know your visit is virtual so we can set it up properly.
2. Join the Secure Video Call
At your appointment time, you’ll join a secure, HIPAA-compliant video consultation. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a reasonably quiet space.
3. The Consultation
We’ll talk through your concerns just as we would in the office. I’ll review your history, any relevant records, and your current symptoms. I may ask you to show me something on camera — a rash, a skin change, your medication bottles.
4. Diagnosis, Prescriptions, and Next Steps
If appropriate, I can send prescriptions directly to your pharmacy through the visit. We’ll discuss your treatment plan, what to watch for, and whether an in-person follow-up is needed.
Why Patients Choose Telemedicine
Convenience without compromise No travel time, no parking, no waiting room. For patients with demanding schedules, small children, or mobility limitations, this matters.
Timely access Virtual appointments often have faster availability than in-office slots — particularly useful when you have an acute concern you need addressed quickly.
Continuity of care For established patients, telemedicine keeps your care consistent. I know your history, your medications, your preferences — the relationship doesn’t change just because the visit is virtual.
Safety For patients who are immunocompromised, elderly, or simply prefer to limit exposure during respiratory illness season, virtual care is a genuinely safer option.
Available Throughout Texas
Telemedicine visits through our practice are available for patients located anywhere in Texas — not just the Plano area. If you’re in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, or anywhere else in the state, we can see you virtually.
